It Starts

I inched my way slowly along the alley wall. The shadows are deep and dark where I am hidden. This was always the part I disliked, the waiting. Vash was different, she relished the idea of skulking in the dark alley. To me it is survival, the best plan. To her it is a way of life.

“How long you think we have to wait?” I questioned her impatiently. I know she is close by, well at least close enough to hear. I seen her long dark hair flutter out of the corner of my eye for a split second.

“Will you shut up Vuzlyn, and ready that spell of yours.” Vash hissed out at me. I spotted her intense blue eyes deep in the shadows nearby. “We will only have one chance and I do not want to miss it. My blades need a fresh coating of blood, and this pay off will pad our coffers for a good few months.”

I seen a slight movement and noticed her pull her dark blades from their sheaths. I pulled my cowl further down and readied myself for the fight. It was always a quick fight for us, but it never paid to be careless. We knew our target would be alone. Our plan was a simple one, but it required precise timing. A quick trick to distract our target and anyone nearby from us. Meanwhile Vash will slit his throat from behind as quick as lightning. Then before anyone notices we escape. Risky, but we had this planned and practiced. We are the best as it is.
